The Ming Report by Keith Hays

HAIFA STREET

Just a walk in the sun and the sun is hot,
The street is empty but the air is not,
The scene ain’t real it’s a movie plot
Cling to that thought, it’s all you got.

Hear the sound of Death in the morning heat,
A mournful wail with a measured beat,
Forward now and no retreat,
And another man’s down in Haifa Street.

Sunni or Shia, who is to know,
Which is friend and who a foe,
Take it easy, take it slow,
See that bush where a bush don’t grow.

Hear the sound of Death in the morning heat,
A mournful wail with a measured beat,
Forward now and no retreat,
And another man’s down in Haifa Street.

The air is split with an ugly crack,
Splintered glass marks the bullet’s track,
A sniper ambush sneak attack.
Everyone down and everyone back,

Hear the sound of Death in the morning heat,
A mournful wail with a measured beat,
Forward now and no retreat,
And another man’s down in Haifa Street
